I have spent the last few days attesting to the wonders of our land and where people should place their value. I went back and forth debating whether to make this a blog entry for Northern River Financial. The deciding factor was the inherent similarity in the message and I felt very strongly about communicating the message.
One of the driving parts of our message is the abundant beauty of our nation and the immense pleasure of promoting our Canadian values and northern heritage. This is so vibrantly reflected in the national and global focus on our federal election today. Our national identity has been tarnished over the last 15 years and we have lost a lot of the luster of what a Canadian truly is.
The main part of the message is that we need to live our life for today and for tomorrow. A narrow focus is how most people view the world. In as much as we want to plan for tomorrow, we have to look at the values and decisions we make today in relation to their impact on our tomorrows.
We need to look at what kind of legacy we are creating for our children and family members in the future. In some ways, I am really concerned about the choices we are making today, for today, and not considering the implications for our future. Much like I attest to financial life planning being centred on both our present and our future, I feel we are outliving our own current existence. We are not looking ahead on how our political, economic, resource, energy and climate abuses of today will impact tomorrow and those who will inherit them.
We have a big task ahead of today. Every Canadian needs to assess the real issues facing Canada and the party platforms so they can make their best choice on the person and party they elect to represent them now and for the future. Put aside the Fords, the Hair, the Nijabs, the mud-slinging, the attack ads, just not being ready and all the social media rhetoric and partisan politics.
Be pragmatic. Take time, do so real soul searching, and be educated and prepared when making your vote. It counts and it is our duty to exercise our democratic right in choosing the new government that will represent us for the next four years. You are Canadian and you live in the best country in the world. Be proud and let your voice be heard.
